(Almost) my last spend for a while

These are the contents of three beautifully packed little parcels which arrived today.  All of them have been ordered and delivered within a couple of days.  Fabulous service from each vendor.

I hope I am not making you feel all Alison Davies(ed) out but here come two more chairs.  At some point I know I want her console table in walnut for the music room and I am hoping a small low table will appear in her entourage, so I can use it as a (sort of) coffee table between the facing sofas in the sitting room.  Meanwhile I snaffled two more chairs:

Alison Davies

The problem with upping your game and buying more expensive/better pieces than you usually buy is that everything else needs to be roughly in the same arena so other rooms are being treated to an upgrade.

These are from Dream Home Miniatures - the Jiayi retailers from whom I bought my gold sofas:

This pair of small dressers fit the space perfectly either side of my dining room fireplace; after all you do have to have somewhere to display the silver!

A tidy Regency chair for the library table/desk

My library is really a book repository for collections of old/rare books and is not intended to be a working study kind of place but you just might need a brief sit-down while you are there to look at a book rather than take it away, so it needed a small table and chair.  Better than a plain table I found this neat little Regency desk (with the chair).

This may or may not be the permanent Regency square piano for the house.  I would like one made by Masters Miniatures but this one at just £18.50 will do for a long time.  It will make the room look finished while I am amassing pennies for a better model.

What a nice touch - nestled in the packaging around the boxes of furniture was another little treat.  How kind.

My third parcel was a light from Dolls House Direct.  It is one from the Wonham Collection:

I have a carpet on order, due soon, and a light for the music room, from China and due in November!  I promise that (with the exception of the carpet) this is the last time I will be parading my treats for a very long time.

Incidentally if you are a glutton for pictures of mini things I do keep a Purchases album and there is a link over on the left of this blog.

    1. Thanks Sheila. I am just ruined by seeing the most spectacular Beith one for almost £800 and more realistically (still a dream right now) getting Masters Miniatures to make me one at something like £80. I am hoping to just settle happily into this one. think it is nicely done at a good price. It is wire strung and they keys are nice. Marilyn

  2. Oh please! Keep parading! I love what you have picked, and am really enjoying heading over from your links to do some window shoping! There's a whole world of amazing miniature pieces out there that I would not have been aware of if you had not shared! Plus, the only way our dreams can manifest is if we will dream them in the first place! Keep dreaming them! They'll happen!

    1. Thank you so much for that Jodi. I know a heap of people read this and I do wonder if it is like watching paint dry most of the time, BUT besides being fun to share with someone out there who 'gets' minis (otherwise I am in solitary) and also to help now and then I want a detailed blog of every tiddly bit of the build just for me to enjoy and go back to now and then when its done. So it is lovely to hear someone doesn't mind my slinging up stuff like - 'Look what I bought'.

    2. Your blog is way more fun than watching paint dry, especially your wit and humor! I enjoy your videos, too, and find all your tips soooo helpful! In fact, yesterday, when the measurements (to find center) I was trying to take got into the 64ths, I just grabbed a piece of paper, cut it to size, folded it in half to find the center then said aloud "thank you Marilyn"!!! Keep them coming!

  4. Lots of lovelies there Marilyn and "snap" on your two AD chairs (I got the dark wood ones). Favourites? Regency Desk and Chair and your DHD light. The sweeties were also a lovely touch - what a nice surprise.

    1. Even more snap on the chairs your mentioning them was the nudge! Yes, I like the desk and chair - not a huge Jaiyi fan but it is the closest I can get to the vision in my head at the price I can afford. Off to eat my sweeties.... Marilyn

  5. I LOVE ALL of your choices in furniture and in lighting Marilyn! Each are Quality Selections!

I sincerely believe that the more involved in this hobby one becomes, the more difficult it is to be satisfied with "ANYTHING LESS THAN"......especially as these Fabulous objects d'art are so readily accessible on-line. When you see such INcredible craftsmanship from all over the globe, it tends to open, then empties your wallet far to often.

But- OH! Such Great Pleasure they bring! :D

    1. So absolutely true Elizabeth. Each project I do, and this is number four, I get greedier and greedier for the 'finer' things and weaker and weaker in the resistance department. Marilyn

  7. Hello Marilyn,
how beautiful! Those are all wonderful pieces, and I can't imagine being Allison Daviesed out! The chairs are gorgeous, as is all the furniture, but I must say I love that regency desk. How beautiful. Having the furniture an items in a house be in the same arena is so important. The realism of a room depends on it.

    1. Yes, it is very jarring to see clunky (not meant in a rude way) and fine objects together - not just about how well crafted they are it is about so much more, scale of the thickness of the materials, legs etc, wood colour/varnish all kinds of things. At least each room needs a balance of similar stuff - better still the whole house. We'll see how I get on now I am beyond my financial 'comfort' zone. Marilyn
