Bricks (almost) finished

After a couple of weeks I have finally (almost)  finished the brickwork on the front of the house.

I wish I could share the colours and texture with you - I promise they look very like bricks.  Click on the picture to see it full screen.  I do have bits and bobs of filling in to do which is a deliberate choice.  I thought it would be better to fix the basement fronts in place and then trim up around them where needed.

Needless to say I have just come up with another wheeze which will further delay getting the doors on.  It is a funny old game this one - you set off on one job and four jobs later you are able to finish the original.  Watch this space for a bogey hole.

Meanwhile this mess on the floor is why I love having a dedicated work area for my hobby.  I feel lucky every day.  I love my Hive. I can make all the mess I want and leave it each day and clear up when that task is finished.

I clear up all the surfaces and put things away between each major task so I don't end up knee deep in clutter.

So now, with the doors (very nearly) done, the surfaces cleared and cleaned and the floor swept, I am on to the next step.

  1. UN-REAL- Your poor fingers- but I LOVE IT!!!! :D
I don't know how you managed to keep the bricks running straight, and even though I've watched you do it and heard you explain it on your youtube channel, I still stand AMAZED! The colors in the brick look lovely and really suit the shape of this structure. Would it surprise you to learn just how JEALOUS I am feeling right now Marilyn? :D
    Beautiful BEAUTIFUL Work!

  2. Oh Elizabeth that is soooooo kind. Don't think I have had anyone jealous of me in my life!! All I can say is I actually enjoy doing it - it is sort of mind numbingly easy - listen to the radio and plod on. Credit is due to the product. Love this stuff. Marilyn

  3. Facade looks great. Did you take the house fronts off to do the brickwork?

  4. Absolutely. It would be a nightmare to do them vertically. Flat down only. If you want to do them I have written a ton of stuff here (trawl back through the posts) and done a couple of u-tube videos if you are looking for help or a 'nudge' towards them/ I can't say enough how much I love the versi bricks and slates from Richard Stacey.

  6. It's not super huge - 3 feet wide and 3 feet tall - best fit for the space I have!! Just been looking at DHD site - looks like a lot of new stuff to see at the York Show - 24 foot stand!! Thanks for the heads up on that. Still waiting for tickets to arrive..... marilyn

  8. Yes, that's the key to their success. I know there are a lot of talented mini people who can paint such effects but not me I'm afraid s I am OK with 'buying it in'.
