I am still not convinced about the fibre pen but I bought cheaply maybe there are better ones. That said it acts as a stiff enough (non-damaging) brush to work out a little paint in cracks where you don't want it.
The thing being used on the larger flat areas is the Norton Expert plaster sanding pad.
